New Delhi: Former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh died on Saturday afternoon at the age of 64. Legendary leader Amar Singh had been ill for a long time. In March this year, due to his kidney disease, he underwent surgery in a big hospital in Singapore. Amar Singh has been recognized as a major leader of the Samajwadi Party.



It has been reported that Amar Singh's kidney had deteriorated in 2013. Despite being ill, he was active on his social media account. On the occasion of Id-ul-Juha, he had best wishes from his Twitter account. His last tweet has been on Balangadhar Tilak's death anniversary.



Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed condolences. PM Narendra Modi in his tweet that 'Amar Singh ji was an energetic public figure. In the last few decades, he witnessed some major political developments from close quarters. He was known for his friendship in many areas of his public life. I am saddened by his demise. Condolences to his friends and family. ॐ Peace.'



Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed condolences on the demise of Amar Singh. Rajnath Singh wrote in his tweet, "There is a feeling of sorrow from the news of the demise of senior leader and MP Shri Amar Singh. During public life he had friendship among all parties. Let Amar Singhji, who is humorous by nature and always energetic, give space to his shriches. My condolences to his heartbroken family. ''
