SP-RLD alliance can create challenges for BJP

The SP-RLD alliance in the Meerut division can spoil the game of BJP. While the BJP has many tasks to count in this area, the farmers' movement is a major challenge the party is facing.

SP-RLD alliance can create challenges for BJP

Lucknow: This is from June 2019. In Meerut's Mohalla Prahladnagar, a section of people wrote outside their house – This house is for sale. When a hundred families talked about migration, there was a ruckus.

Alleged that youths from other classes molested and made their life miserable. Such emotional issues reverberated across the country. Although there is a lot of wind of development in Meerut, in the electoral arena, such issues act as big bets here.

This time too, in the election battle of Meerut, a big mountain of hopes of political parties is standing. In the last elections, the BJP had given a strong thrashing to all the parties in the entire division. BJP also has many tasks to count. But, even after all this, the election pitch is not that flat this time.

The SP-RLD alliance can create challenges for the BJP. The issues of inflation, farmers' displeasure, entrepreneurs' problems, sugarcane prices will also take the BJP's test.

BJP has many tasks to count

Before moving on, let's talk about the 2017 elections. In Meerut Mandal, which was known for its vicissitudes, the BJP's dhobipachha paid off. Such was the storm that he hoisted the victory flag on 25 out of the 28 seats in the division. Only one seat each came in the share of SP, BSP, and RLD. Congress could not even open account in the entire Mandal. In Bulandshahr, Gautam Budh Nagar, and Ghaziabad, the pulses of any other party could not be melted. In the last five years, the winds of development have not only flowed here, but the crops of the issues have also flourished. The demand for the Meerut-Delhi Expressway was fulfilled. Vehicles also started filling up on the Meerut-Bulandshahr highway.

Work on a rapid train between Delhi and Meerut and a metro train in Meerut city also started. Bhoomi poojan has also been done for the widening of Meerut-Garhmukteshwar road. The BJP has been mentioning the riots in sensitive Meerut. On the other hand, when the Delhi-Saharanpur via Baghpat road was built, work was done on increasing the capacity of the mills. The medical college will be built in Bulandshahr. At the same time, work started on projects like Anupshahr Bulandshahr Marg, bridge over river Ganga, and Kali river. However, if we talk about the cities themselves, the demand for making ring roads in Meerut, Bulandshahr, etc. is years old, which could not be fulfilled.

Jewar airport big work, hope incomplete in Meerut

Jewar airport is a big job of the government. However, the hope of an airport in Meerut was not fulfilled. The result of the changed policies has been that investors came to Gautam Budh Nagar. Data parks, toy parks are being developed in which more than a hundred companies are trying their hands. Work was done on MSME Park, Logistics, Ware House, Cargo, etc. The Medical Device Park evolved. Dadri, Noida, Ghaziabad being an investment areas, Ghaziabad is also on the path of development.

but the edge of these issues is also not less.

In Ghaziabad and Noida, more than two lakh houses built by private builders are lying vacant, but the allottees have not been able to get possession. The government had made claims, but everything went to waste. The issues of reducing power tariff, compensation for the Economic Corridor are important. All the demands of entrepreneurs in sugar, handloom, sporting goods, agricultural equipment, electrical equipment, carpets, etc. have not been fulfilled yet. At present, Rajendra Sharma, a former MLA associated with RLD, says, "Farmers from flowers to sugarcane has been ruined.

Harbir, the crusher operator of Bulandshahr, raises the question, when the pace of employment has slowed down, then what has happened to the development? However, Arvind Sharma of Ghaziabad says that from law and order to development, the government has done a better job. Students are roaming unemployed, says engineering student Priyanshu Sharma. Inflation is a big issue. If you get work and inflation increases, it works, but if you do not get work and inflation increases, it is a disaster. This will have an impact on the BJP in the elections.

Law student Shivangi Singh says that women's safety is a big issue and in this government, not only women, but every section has got security. The criminals have been severely punished. There is no show on the streets anymore. Shalini, a medical student, says that the government has maintained its clean image. The BJP will get the benefit of the image of CM Yogi and PM Modi in this election as well.

Effect of Farmer movement

Meerut has played an important role in the movement for the return of the three agricultural laws. With the alliance of RLD with SP and the open support of BKU on it, the path of BJP is not going to be easy. Although now the laws are back, the farmers are not ready to accept them. The impact of this movement was also seen in the Panchayat elections and the SP-RLD had benefited a lot. Student Saurabh Chaudhary says that the government has proved to be a complete failure on the issues of farmers. Farmers are not getting the price for their crops. Sugarcane payment is not being done on time. The poor and the employed are also troubled. Everyone saw how much the farmers had to struggle over the agricultural laws. BJP will have to bear the brunt of this in the elections.

Fight for survival for Jayant

RLD is contesting this time under the leadership of its new chief Chaudhary Jayant Singh. For Jayant too, it is a fight for survival. Talking about the last election, RLD's account was opened only in Chhaprauli. The rest had to face defeat on both the seats of Baghpat. However, this time it has an alliance with SP.

Equation of Castes

In the Meerut division, where Jats, Gurjars, Brahmins, Vaishyas, Thakurs, etc. have an important role, there are large numbers of Muslims in most of the seats. Apart from this, the voters of Scheduled Castes have the power to change the result of any seat. Yadav is also decisive in many seats. Most important are the very backward who is the big strength of BJP. No one has been able to easily break into this class so far. Along with the Muslims, this time with the help of Jats and Yadavs, the SP is trying to get into the electoral battle, so the BJP believes that it has no fewer votes than the Jats. On the other hand, BSP is trying to connect other castes with its cadre voters in this election. The Congress is in a campaign to persuade Brahmins and other orthodoxies to join them.

All eyes on Mayawati's formula

Meerut is the home board of four-time Chief Minister of BSP supremo Mayawati. He has a huge vote bank across the board which is capable of changing the outcome of any election. Mayawati is trying hard to connect Brahmins with her cadre voters. He has also played Jat, Muslim equation, but what will be the result of this will be a matter to be seen. On the other hand, Azad Samaj Party founder Chandrashekhar has been active in Mandal for a long time. He is also trying to make a dent in the BSP cadre vote.
