Massive destruction due to cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir, 30 people likely dead on Machail Mata Yatra route
Jammu and Kashmir: Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, today, on 14th August 2025 at 12:30 pm, a cloudburst incident on the yatra route of Machail Mata temple in Chashoti village of Paddar sub-division has caused massive destruction. 30 people are feared dead due to the devastation caused by the cloudburst.
At least 30 people are feared dead due to this natural disaster, while many people are reported missing. About 120 people are reported to be injured. Thousands of devotees, who had gathered for the Machail Mata Yatra, were caught in this disaster.
The flash flood caused by the cloudburst swept away langar tents, roads and vehicles, causing chaos in the area. More than half of Chashoti village is submerged in water and debris, and main roads and bridges have been damaged, posing huge challenges in rescue operations.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has launched immediate action. Teams of NDRF, SDRF, Army's Delta Force and local police are engaged in relief and rescue operations.
