Kinnar Welfare Board will be formed soon in Uttar Pradesh. The proposal for this has been prepared. The Minister of Social Welfare shall be the ex-officio Chairman of this Board and the Deputy Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary of the Department as Vice-Chairman.
According to the 2011 census, there are 1 lakh 35 thousand 600 transgenders in Uttar Pradesh. However, officials of the Social Welfare Department said that many people hide the information about being eunuchs at the time of the census.

In reality, their number will be much more than this. For the welfare of eunuchs, the state government has decided to constitute Uttar Pradesh Kinnar Welfare Board. According to the proposal, the Minister of Social Welfare at the State Headquarters level will be the Chairman of this Board and Additional Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Vice-Chairman.
The Director of Social Welfare will be its member secretary. Also, the Principal Secretary or Additional Chief Secretary of Women Welfare, Finance Department, Home Department, Department of Justice, Child Development and Nutrition Department, and Lucknow Police Commissioner will be members of this board.

All the five enclaves of Uttar Pradesh, Bundelkhand, Paschimanchal, Purvanchal, Awadh, and one eunuch of Ruhelkhand will also be included as members of this board. Members of two NGOs working for eunuchs will also be there.

Similarly, a local unit will be constituted at the district level under the chairmanship of DM, whose member secretary will be the District Social Welfare Officer. Superintendent of Police, CMO, CDO, and officers of all welfare departments will be members of this unit.
According to social welfare department sources, the proposal has been sent to the government. It will soon be placed before the cabinet for approval.
