State's Urban Development Minister AK Sharma (Minister AK Sharma) has given a statement on the issue of notification regarding UP civic elections. He said that 2 days have not been completed yet. First of all, I thank the Supreme Court that they cleared the way for the civic elections in UP. 

As per the directions of the Supreme Court, we are ready to conduct elections at the right time while ensuring reservation for all classes including OBCs. Court has given us 2 days time, we are working on it.

Minister AK Sharma further said that the biggest message that the Honorable Supreme Court has given is that where there is a democratic system of elections on one side in the country, there is a constitutional system on the other side. 

On OBC reservation, the Supreme Court had said that we can move forward only by balancing it. We had already said that we will not conduct elections without reservation for OBCs, because we have full faith in the constitutional system of the country.

This allegation was made by the opposition

The minister said, you will be surprised to know how this whole exercise started. You will be shocked that the reason behind the writ in the High Court is that in the reservation we had made on December 5 in only one municipal body where non-OBC people used to be the president, that reservation was made for OBCs.

Those who are in the role of well-wishers of OBCs, the truth is that they wanted to make that OBC seat declared general, but this is the reality. He wanted the OBC seat to be made general. Because of this, they were searching for some reason or the other. It is clear in the order of the High Court.

Will issue notification soon – Minister

The minister said that we did not agree that elections should be held without reservation for OBCs, whereas the petitioners wanted elections to be held without OBC reservation and OBC seats should be made general, but the government opposed it. Right now it is under process that for which posts there will be changes, for that we will issue notification soon, those are fine things. It will come out soon, just be patient for a few more hours.

Akhilesh Yadav targeted

On Akhilesh Yadav's statement of Shudra, Minister AK Sharma said that, I have read that Akhilesh Yadav had called Keshav Maurya a Shudra. We have never heard any of our leaders calling any OBC a Shudra. We refrain from calling even Shudra as Shudra. We call them by respectable names.
